Hitting stores just in time for Easter, The Nativity Story is an inspirational tale of extraordinary faith and love that chronicles the arduous journey of Mary and Joseph, a divine pregnancy and the miraculous birth of Jesus. As the only film ever to premiere at the Vatican, The Nativity Story captures the emotional resonance and spirituality of this epic time period with the recreation of the sights and sounds of the Holy Land captured through breathtaking cinematography and a score inspired by traditional Christmas songs. Destined to become a holiday classic, The Nativity Story is directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown) and stars Keisha Castle-Hughes (Whale Rider) and Oscar Isaac (the upcoming Guerrilla) as Mary and Joseph as well as Academy Award®-nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Sand and Fog) as Elizabeth. Available at a $28.98 SRP, the DVD has an order due date of February 13, 2007.
    In Nazareth, a town oppressed by the devastating taxation practices of King Herod, a teenage girl, Mary, is told by her parents that they have arranged for her to marry Joseph. Distraught by the idea of marrying a man she hardly knows, Mary takes refuge in a grove to collect her thoughts. There, she is visited by an angel, who tells her that she has been chosen by God to bear his son. Despite the public scorn from an unwed pregnancy, together, Mary and Joseph travel to Bethlehem for a census mandated by the King. It is here, with a great celestial event revealing his prophecy, in a history-defining event, that Jesus is born.
