New Line Record's Artist The Sounds to Play Mainstage on Warped Tour

NEW YORK (May 17, 2006) - Scratchie/New Line Records are excited to announce that Swedish 5-piece The Sounds will be returning to the mainstage of Warped Tour this summer in support of their new album, Dying To Say This To You. The band will join the tour on July 18th at Vancouver’s Thunderbird Stadium, and will perform through the last day of the tour, August 13th at Montreal’s Parc Jean-Drapeau.

Dying To Say This To You, which was released March 21st, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart as well as on the Alternative New Artist chart, selling over 10,000 copies in its first week. The Sounds are also wrapping up an enormously successful 40-date North American tour, which included sold-out dates at Los Angeles’ Henry Fonda Theatre and New York’s Irving Plaza. While in LA, the band were guest performers on Jimmy Kimmel Live and made their second appearance for Dying on Last Call With Carson Daly. First single, “Song With a Mission,” which The Washington Post called “one of the best rock singles of 2006,” is getting solid radio play across the country, and its video is appearing everywhere from VH1 to Fuse to MTV2 and is currently Magna Cum Laude on MTVU.

Rolling Stone raved DTSTTY mixes “Blondie-style cool with a streamlined punk rush and the throaty wail of front woman Maja Ivarsson” and Magnet called Dying “surprisingly mature…The LP crackles with arena-ready energy.” The San Francisco Bay Guardian wrote, “The Sounds’ second album is a blitzkrieg of retro wrist-pumping anthems — glitter-punk riffs! Euro-disco keyboard lines! Ivarsson's tough-gal taunts! — that's so relentlessly catchy it practically dares America not to listen.” The Boston Globe praised Dying’s “bristling blend of electro pop and bubblegum punk” and Playboy declared “Thank God for Swedes” calling the album “a hook-filled update of classic New Wave…Think Missing Persons, Blondie or early Berlin.”
