New Line Records Artist The Sounds Debut at #1 on Billboard Heatseekers Chart, North American Tour Starts with Four Sold-Out Shows

LOS ANGELES (March 29, 2006) -- New Line Records’ artist The Sounds have entered at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart with their sophomore album DYING TO SAY THIS TO YOU. Released on March 21st, DTSTTY sold more than 10,000 records in its first week of sales – a strong debut for an independent release.

The album is also the #1 record on the Alternative New Artists chart as well as the #1 debut on the Coalition of Independent Music Stores (CIMS) chart. Firmly established as a “band to watch,” Swedish rockers The Sounds began a 40-date North American tour last week, kicking off with a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live and four sold-out shows in Southern California, including a date at Los Angeles’ Henry Fonda Theatre.

Rolling Stone raves that DTSTTY mixes “Blondie-style cool with a streamlined punk rush and the throaty wail of front woman Maja Ivarsson.” Maxim says that the record “snarls and snaps with considerable sass over hard-charging guitars and bubbly synths, conjuring up the spirit of 1981 and then kicking some fresh life into it.” The band has also been hailed in such publications as Magnet, Playboy’s music issue, Guitar Player, Nylon, and Flaunt among others.

The band will continue to tour in support of DTSTTY until 2008 and will co-headline this summer’s Vans Warped Tour which begins in July.
