Steve Buscemi Cast in New Line's We're the Millers
LOS ANGELES (Feb. 7, 2006) - Steve Buscemi (The Sopranos, Ghost World) is set to star in the New Line Cinema comedy We're the Millers, penned by the Wedding Crashers team of Steve Faber and Bob Fisher, it was announced today by New Line Production President Toby Emmerich.
Buscemi will play a marijuana dealer that is looking to get out of the business. He decides to take one last job, which takes him to Mexico, where he creates a make-believe family - "the Millers" - in order to smuggle 1,400 pounds of pot back into the U.S.
Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty) will direct We're the Millers. Tucker Tooley, Vincent Newman, Happy Walters and Matthew Weaver are producing. David Heyman is executive producing the film, with JC Spink and Chris bender co-executive producing. New Line production executives Richard Brener and Cale Boyter are overseeing the project.
Faber and Fisher scored a hit last year with the comedy Wedding Crashers, which earned more than $209 million at the domestic box office and was the highest grossing comedy of 2005.
