New Line Cinema's A History of Violence, The New World Earn Oscar Nominations
LOS ANGELES (Jan. 31, 2006) -- New Line Cinema earned a total of three 2006 Academy Award nominations on Tuesday for the films A History of Violence and The New World.
William Hurt is a best supporting actor nominee for his role as a ruthless gangster in A History of Violence. The film was also nominated for best adapted screenplay, written by Josh Olson, based on the graphic novel by Vince Locke and John Wagner.
Cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki garnered a cinematography nomination for Terrence Malick's The New World.
The 78th annual Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, March 5, and will be aired on ABC, live from the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.
